Armenia Weather varies from subtropical to alpine-like in the mountain regions; this is mainly influenced by its geographical assortment. The weather-beaten landscape in Armenia contributes to the microclimatic features of the country. While the plain lands of Armenia can be characterized by pleasant weather patterns, the mountainous region remains cold and frosty through out the year. The extensive variety of Armenia Weather makes it one of the most admired tourist destinations in the southwestern Asia.

Another distinct feature of Armenia Weather is the great fluctuation in temperatures between seasons. Temperatures can vary considerably between seasons. The summer is generally pleasant reaching 25°C, though in the Ararat valley temperatures can climb to 40°C. As a general rule though, Armenia is often described as a sunny country.

Winter weather in Armenia is predominantly cold and snowy. Understandably, temperatures tend to fall well bellow freezing point and usually as low as -22C, the mean temperature hovering around the 0 degree centigrade mark. Armenia Weather in the north part of the country can expect to receive at least 50 to 60 days of heavy snow fall, while in some areas of the country snow covers the ground in its thick blanket for up to 7 months per year. Armenia Weather calls for winter sports enthusiasts who enjoy skiing down the hills of Tsakhkadzor which is located just 30 minutes from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia and largest city. Temperatures in Yerevan can plummet to – 10 degree centigrade in winter and rise to above 40 degree centigrade in summer.

Lake Sevan, the second largest lake in the world, is nestled in the Armenian highlands at an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level. Armenia Weather in this part of the country experiences the occasional storm with strong winds but sporadic annual rainfalls averaging from 250mm in the dry plains to 800 mm in the higher and more humid regions. Mountain ranges of the Armenian regions receive profound rainfalls year round whereas the Arax River valley of Armenia only receives an average of 12 inches of precipitation per year.  Those unaccustomed to the peculiarities of weather in Armenia should bear in mind that rainy weather predominates conditions during the spring season (roughly running between March and June) and again October and November.

Autumn’s weather in Armenia is long and is famous for the vibrant and colorful plant life, while spring is short.
Described as a sunny country Armenia Weather in summer is distinctly dry, sunny and hot especially in the mountainous areas. Summer in Armenia lasts from June- September, with temperatures fluctuating between 22 and 42 degree Celsius in Yerevan. Low humidity levels contribute to high temperatures, but relief is at hand in the evenings when refreshing breezes blow down the mountain providing a cooling outcome. Summer droughts are common as are earthquakes. Armenia Weather is at its best between the months of May and October which is a perfect time to visit. Ararat and the southwest of Armenia are said to have the most pleasant weather as the forested mountains are protected from the sun and harsh effects of the wind storms.

However, Armenia Weather is at its finest in the plain of Ararat and to the southwest, as well as the wooded mountains where trees offer protection not only from the sand, but from devastating storms as well.
